Event Details

Nonprofit fundraisers are drowning in data. Opens. Views. ROAS. Retweets. We have more information about our donors and their activity than ever. But it’s becoming impossible to see the strategy forest amidst all these distracting data trees. In this session, Dan Pazos and Sarah Friedman, from the National Audubon Society’s Digital Fundraising and Engagement team, will be joined by Porter Mason and Morgan Klein, from the data team at Stagecoach Digital, to show how they’ve helped reduce data noise to focus on the numbers that really help them drive fundraising results.

We’ll look at how we’ve designed dashboards to track real-time revenue results, past donor history, email list health, and digital advertising performance. Participants will get a framework for how to evaluate their own data monitoring and dashboards, as well as some best practices for what has worked with Audubon’s program. This session is for anyone who needs to evaluate the performance of some or all of their digital program.

Outcomes

  • How to apply “data diet” rules to pare down which stats you look at regularly
  • Which KPIs Audubon and other nonprofits find drive fundraising success
  • How to talk with colleagues about some “vanity metrics” that are just empty calories

Additional Info

In this session, we’ll pull back the curtain on that process and share the results. The Audubon team will provide perspective on the organizational needs that drive certain data dead-ends and Stagecoach will discuss creative ways we’ve designed systems to simplify data complexity and increase effectiveness.
