Position Overview

The Vice President of Mid-Level Engagement is a key member of Synergy’s Senior Leadership Team and leads the continual development and growth of Synergy’s Mid-Level Engagement solution. This role sets the strategic direction of the business unit, ensures exceptional client outcomes, and represents Synergy’s solution in the marketplace to expand our impact and revenue.

Key outcomes include: (1) retaining and expanding a portfolio of strategic clients, (2) leading and developing a high-performing Mid-Level team, (3) developing qualified leads and opportunities, writing strategic proposals to win new business, and (4) owning the overall strategy and operating model for the continued growth and improvement of the Mid-Level Engagement business unit.

Role scope (initial):

  • Business unit leadership: own strategy, priorities, and performance for Synergy’s Mid-Level Engagement solution, including ongoing solution development and continuous improvement.
  • Team leadership (current): lead and grow a Mid-Level team currently including a Director of Client Success (Mid-Level), a Director of Operations, an Account Representative and 15 Relationship Managers; build a high-performing culture and operating cadence as the team scales.
  • Client portfolio leadership: oversee executive relationships across a set of strategic clients/partners; drive retention, expansion, and measurable program results.
  • Go-to-market: promote Synergy’s solution in the marketplace through thought leadership, relationship-building, and strategic prospect engagement.
  • Travel: available to travel several times per month for onsite client meetings, planning sessions, and industry events.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Senior Leadership & Business Unit Strategy
  • Set and lead the overall strategy for Synergy’s Mid-Level Engagement business unit, including solution roadmap, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • As a member of Synergy’s Senior Leadership Team, actively shape company policies, best practices, and the culture that supports a strong reputation in the marketplace.
  • Define operating cadence, performance management, and accountability across the business unit (planning, reviews, forecasting, and issue management).
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Mid-Level team; coach leaders and ensure role clarity, capacity planning, and talent development as the unit scales.
  • Own business-unit performance reporting and executive-level communication of results, risks, and opportunities.


  • Client Strategy & Executive Account Leadership
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with client executives and key stakeholders; serve as a strategic advisor on mid-level donor engagement.
  • Lead annual and multi-year planning with clients, translating goals into program strategy, priorities, and success metrics.
  • Drive accountability for program performance and client satisfaction; use data to identify issues and implement improvements.
  • Own account strategy and forecasting for assigned clients, including renewals, risks, opportunities, and expansion roadmaps.
  • Lead client operating cadence (QBRs, partner meetings, annual planning sessions), onsite or remote; manage escalations end-to-end.
  • Develop, present, and execute strategic client plans that improve key donor outcomes, including:


  • Solution Development & Operational Excellence
  • Lead continual improvement of Synergy’s Mid-Level Engagement solution by identifying opportunities, testing enhancements, and scaling best practices across clients.
  • Partner with Operations and cross-functional leaders to build a scalable delivery model, including process documentation, QA standards, training, and performance dashboards.
  • Build and manage budgets and revenue forecasts; ensure programs meet or exceed forecast results within budget.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional Synergy solutions that increase client value and results.
  • Partner with internal teams and technology partners to pilot and scale innovations on behalf of clients.


  • Marketing & Lead Generation
  • Represent and promote Synergy’s Mid-Level Engagement solution in the marketplace through industry relationships, events, conferences, and thought leadership.
  • Develop qualified leads and opportunities by leveraging existing networks and building new strategic partnerships.
  • Lead discovery, solution design, and the creation of strategic proposals to win new business; collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing, scope, and delivery approach.
  • Deliver executive-level presentations of Synergy’s capabilities, results, and case studies to prospective clients and partners.

Performance Objectives

The Vice President’s performance will be measured by:

  • Meet or exceed business-unit revenue, retention, and growth goals.
  • Deliver strong client outcomes through data-driven strategy, consistent execution, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Build and lead a high-performing Mid-Level team with clear goals, effective operating cadence, and strong talent development.
  • Generate new business pipeline by promoting Synergy’s solution in the marketplace and developing strategic leads and opportunities.
  • Write and win strategic proposals that expand Synergy’s client base and grow existing partnerships.
  • Contribute to company-wide policies and best practices as part of the Senior Leadership Team, strengthening Synergy’s reputation and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Senior level thought leader in the field of High Value Donor development.
  • Extensive experience leading Mid and Major donor development programs, with a thorough understanding of how planned giving and Donor Advised Funds enhance the value of such programs.
  • 10+ years of experience building and leading high-performing client services teams.
  • Creates a strong, credible presence with nonprofit C-suite leaders.
  • Strong Presentation skills with a track record of success presenting at industry conferences as well as to C-Suite and Board level executives.
  • Strong experience using data and analytics to optimize marketing and donor development programs.
  • Available to travel for client meetings, planning sessions, and industry events.
